Ford Douglas Scheurer
Age 81, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013. He was born on October 18, 1932 in Ionia, MI the son of Fred and Mabel (York) Scheurer, Jr. Mr. Scheurer retired from Fisher Body in Lansing on October 1, 1994. He was a farmer, and also a Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. Ford married Rita Lillian Smith on April 7, 1956, and she preceded him in death on September 24, 1984. Also preceding him in death were his parents; twin daughters, Stacy and Tracy Scheurer in 1968; sisters, Leolyn (Theron) Slade, and Geneva (Adam) Rogors. Surviving are his children, Cheryl (Michael) Van Wormer, Sandra (Steve) Greenhoe, Frederick (Mary) Scheurer, and Douglas Scheurer; grandchildren, Heather Sawdy, Louis (Elissa) Greenhoe, Misty (Aaron) Lepley, Brad (Rebecca) Greenhoe, Corey Greenhoe, Joshua Scheurer, Katelyn (Danny) Hoppes, Logan Scheurer, Michael Van Wormer II, and Melissa Van Wormer; great grandchildren, Kylie and Nathan Sawdy, Makayla and Aaron Lepley, Xander Greenhoe, Brantley Scheurer, and Avery Anderton. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich Street, Ionia with Deacon Zenon Cardenas of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church presiding. Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of Ford.
