Virginia “Ginny” Garner-Kesling-McMains, 94, of Allegan, also known to many as Grandma Bounce, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Ely Manor of Allegan.
Virginia was born June 6, 1922, in Leesville, Ohio, the daughter of Grover and Essa (Kuhn) Garner. She moved to Allegan in 1965 and then returned to Utica, Ohio, for her retirement years. She moved back to Michigan in 2006 to be near her son Bob and daughter-in-law Jan until her death.
Ginny was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known for her love of baking, especially apple, strawberry/rhubarb pies, Christmas sugar cookies and her delicious homemade Swiss steak.
She attended Merson Church of Gobles and enjoyed their “50 Plus Group” and Ladies Bible Study with her friends at Merson Church.
Surviving are her four children, William (Sandy) Kesling of East Sparta, Ohio, Sherrill (Earl) Williams of Ireland, W.Va., Vickie Kesling-Black of LaVerkin, Utah, and Robert (Janice) Kesling of Allegan; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and dear friend Alyce Poland of Utica, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl “Bounce” McMains; six brothers; two sisters; and a grandson Billy Kesling.
Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services and inurnment will take place at a later date where a celebration of life service will be with the family at Homer Cemetery in Utica, Ohio, where she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband “Bounce.” Pastor Alan Carson will officiate.
