Lambertus (Bert) Reus age 95 of Grand Rapids passed away early September 30, 2018 after battling cancer for the fifth time. Bert was born in the Netherlands and at the age of 4 travelled to this country with his parents and sister crossing the ocean on a large ship, eventually settling in Grand Rapids. He was the oldest and only son, of Alice and Cornelius Reus. Bert grew up on Leonard St near College, attended St Alphonsus grade school and graduated from Davis Tech. Bert was active at his churches St. Alphonsus and Holy Spirit where he served as an usher and served on several committees. He worked at Rapidstan for over 35 years. One thing anyone could see was he was proud to be an American. He wore patriotic clothes and hats, stood for our national anthem, and proudly displayed the American flag. Bert was preceded in death by his parents Alice and Cornelius Reus, sisters and their spouses Effie and Bill Yob, Alice and Bob Lewis, and Marie and Bob Fisher. He is survived by his wife Virginia, children Marilou and Tom Yost, Mike and Fran Reus, Judy Keller, Janet and Dave Toorenaar, and Sandy and Don Schueller, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, his sister Jane Reus, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
