SCHNEIDER, Donald undefined, 1932 – Jan 31, 2019

GRAND RAPIDS [mdash] Don Schneider, age 86, passed away Jan. 31, 2019, relieving him of the dementia that robbed him of a life that gave him meaning and joy.
Beloved husband, best dad and grandpa ever, Don was also an inventor, conservationist, environmentalist, entrepreneur and the “best conceptual engineer in the business.” He was artist, architect, dome designer, fisherman, camper, sailor, skier, scuba diver, tennis player, windsurfer and mentor. He was honest, generous, humble and fair. His children and grandchildren can only hope to emulate the qualities he embodied.
Don was born and raised in Lowell, where he met and wed his high school sweetheart. They spent their retirement years in the home Don designed and built on Grand Traverse Bay north of Elk Rapids. They loved their life on the bay!
Don was predeceased by his daughter, Amy Schneider.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anne Schneider; his children, JoEllen Schneider (Ron Dwelle), Art (Melanie) Schneider, Barry Schneider and Jennifer McEwen; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating Don’s well-lived life will take place Friday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at Lowell UMC, in Lowell.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA), Suttons Bay.
