Sharon Anne Maggard, age 70, a long-time resident of Grand Haven, passed away at her home on December 2, 2017. She was born April 3, 1947, to Marie Agnes (nee Poland) and Asa Laurence Cook in Muskegon Heights, Michigan.
Sharon graduated from Fruitport High School in 1966. Her favorite class was Home Economics. After graduation, she worked at Peerless Novelty Company in Grand Haven and Michigan Plastics, Plant #2.
Sharon married James “Jim” Thomas Maggard in 1969. Jim served in the military and the couple moved frequently as military assignments required. Sharon would often talk about her home in Alaska and the long winter nights.
In 1980, Sharon moved to Grand Haven. She parted from her husband Jim shortly after the move. Sharon loved reading and spent a lot of her time at the Grand Haven Public Library. She also enjoyed baking.
Sharon is fondly remembered by friends and neighbors for trimming her lawn in her big floppy hat.
Mrs. Sharon Anne Maggard is survived by her brother, Robert (Helen) A. Cook of Big Rapids; and two nieces and five nephews living across the country from North Carolina to California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gloria Marie Scroggins; and her puppy dog, Peppy.
Mrs. Maggard has been laid to rest at Ladner Cemetery in Stanwood, Michigan.
