MLCEK, Kathryn Aug 3, 1922 – Sep 6, 2019

BENZONIA [mdash] Kathryn Marcella Mlcek, 97, of Benzonia, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at Paul Oliver Living and Rehabilitation Center in Frankfort. She was born Aug. 3, 1922 in Copemish, the daughter of Joseph and Teresa (Frederick) Doneth.
Kathryn was a member of the Copemish High School Class of 1940 and later worked there as a cook. She also worked as a clerk at Copemish Post Office until her retirement.
Kathryn was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She was a founding member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish and a current member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Frankfort.
Kathryn loved to travel with family and friends, especially with her husband to the Upper Peninsula. She enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, and she loved to play golf, often reminding people of her hole-in-one in 1988. Most of all, Kathryn loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her soothing personality and friendly demeanor. Kathryn was a joy to know, and she will be missed.
Kathryn is survived by her children, Charles (Karen) Mlcek Jr. of Mesick, Janet (Richard Brinn) Yonker, of Muskegon, Jerry Mlcek, of Midland, Betty (Tom) Root, of Gaylord, and Mary Rineer, of Lake Ann; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Myers, of Florida; and numerous friends and extended family members.
On May 3, 1946, Kathryn married Charles Mlcek Sr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kathryn Crispell; and by her siblings, Wilford “Bud” Doneth, Margaret Hart, Gordon Doneth, Leonard Doneth, Eva Romsek, George Doneth, LeMarle “Marty” Schuller, John “Jack” Doneth and Joseph Doneth.
A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish. A luncheon will follow at the church.
The Mlceks would like to thank Paul Oliver Living and Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Kathryn and her family.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Catholic Church or to St. Ann Catholic Church.
