Michael John Schneider, 79, went home to his lord on October 1, 2019. He was born on December 8, 1939 to the late Benedict and Marjorie (Peterson) Schneider. Mike graduated from Menominee High School in 1958. On August 20, 1960 he married the love of his life, Linda Spangenberg. After his marriage to Linda he served in the National Guard and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. Upon completing his tour in the guards, he went to work at the L.E. Jones Company for 43 years where he was active in the union serving as union steward, then vice president and secretary for the UAW retirees, After retiring from L.E. Jones, he went to work for Holy Redeemer Parish as the maintenance/custodian for 5 years where he also ushered for many years.
Mike was an avid hunter and trout fisherman, spending time at the camp in Banat with his family while enjoying the different seasons was one of his favorite things to do. He further enjoyed working in his shop making wooden trinkets for his children and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda, daughters: Deborah (Christopher) Millard, Michelle Boucher, Christine Schneider, Doreen (Steve) Briar, and his son Bradley (Amanda) Schneider. He is further survived by his canine daughters Lacee and Missy, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Ronald (Suzie) Schneider.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his in-laws, Julius and Alvera Spangenberg.
Visitation will take place at Holy Redeemer Parish in Birch Creek on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 9am until 11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Michael John Schneider at 11am with Fr. Joseph Vandannoor presiding.
Burial will be in the Menominee Township Cemetery.
The Cadieu Funeral Home is assisting the family.
