Kenneth Lee Walechka, 79, of Carney, Mich. passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 1, 1939 in Gourley Township to the late Emil and Emma (Janofski) Walechka. Ken married the former Elizabeth Kleikamp on April 19, 1958 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Spalding, MI. Ken worked for the Menominee County Road Commission for 36 years as a truck driver. Ken was an early riser and loved logging, hunting and spending time with his family. He really enjoyed farming, dancing and his daily walks. Ken was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church where he was always the first one out when church ended.
Ken is survived by his wife Liz of 61 years; 2 daughters Peggy (Greg) Arnold of Hermansville, Mich. and Janice (Larry) Klee of Wilson, Mich.; 2 sons Tony (Lisa) Walechka of Wilson, Mich. and Dan (Geana) Walechka of Carney, Mich.; Ken is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. 2 Brothers: Donald Walechka of Wilson, Mich. and James (Vivian) Walechka of Escanaba, Mich.; 2 sisters Mary (Jerry) Piche of Carney, Mich. and Linda (Dale) McNamee of Escanaba, Mich.; and sister in law Rosy of Jefferson, WI. Ken was preceded in death by 1 brother Marvin and 1 sister Evelyn.
Visitation for Ken will be held on Friday October 25, 2019 at St. Bruno Catholic Church in Nadeau beginning at 9:30 am cst until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon cst with Fr. Jacek Wytklo officiating. Ken will be taken to his final resting place in Nadeau Township Cemetery on a hay wagon pulled by his Farmall H. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
