Martin “Marty” Southard, 91, of Allegan passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at the Wings Home in Allegan.
Marty was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Allegan, the son of John and Hazel Southard and had lived the majority of his life in Allegan.
Marty loved to tinker in his garage and was very proud of his yard. After retirement he could be seen on walks around town or cruising around his neighborhood on his bicycle. He also enjoyed relaxing in his swing outside with friends and family who would stop by to visit. Marty had worked as a truck driver and construction worker most of his life, retiring from the Allegan City Department of Public Works in 1990.
Surviving is his daughter, Susan (Dale Halstead) Busfield; grandchildren, Benjamin Busfield and Sara (Floyd) Decker; two great-grandsons, Gabe and Anson Decker; his best friend, Greg Tobey; and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; sister, Louise Perfecto; and his parents.
The family will meet friends on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Bloomingdale Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wings Home, Allegan.
