Louis Guy “Louie” Champeau, 69, Houghton Lake, died July 1, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, handled arrangements.
He was born Aug. 24, 1950, in Memphis, TN, to Edward and Ida (Sawtell) Champeau. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 21 years. In 1987, after retirement, he moved to Houghton Lake, where he began working for the former Mercy Hospital Grayling in the maintenance department.
He and Pamela A. (McDonald) Nagy were married May 20, 2006, at Houghton Lake. A member of EAA Chapter 1259, he enjoyed flying his airplane. He had served as Markey Township supervisor.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and granddaughter, Nicole Marie Pastell.
Mr. Champeau is survived by his wife, Pamela A. Champeau of Houghton Lake; sons, Barry (Melissa) Champeau of Linden, VA, and Daniel (Stacie) Champeau of Clarkston; stepchildren, Alisha (Derek) Pastell of Roscommon and Sean (Denise) Nagy of Houghton Lake; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Eleanor (Thom Rozycki) Champeau of Waterford and Linda Kay (Pat) Green of Clarkston; and brother, Lee (Becky) Champeau of Clarkston.
