Maria Pilant, 82, Houghton Lake, died July 28, 2020, at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date at Houghton Lake, at the home of her nephew, Chris Flores. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
She was born June 13, 1938, in Traverse City, to Santos and Carmen (Iglesias) Flores. She grew up in the Detroit area, where she worked in quality control for General Motors until her retirement.
She and Thomas M. Pilant were united in marriage Aug. 27, 1989, at Houghton Lake. She and her husband had been coming to Houghton Lake for many years before making the permanent move from Birmingham in 2001.
Mrs. Pilant was a member of the Waterford Eagles and enjoyed going to art shows, going out dancing and crocheting lap blankets for cancer patients and family members. Her special love was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Thomas M. Pilant; and two brothers, Jose H. Flores and Marcos Flores.
She is survived by her brother, Luis Flores of Fenton; and several nieces and nephews.
