James Edward Previch, 86, Houghton Lake, died Aug. 14, 2020, in Toledo, OH.

He was born in Detroit May 4, 1934, the son of Frank and Rose (Prister) Prevish. He graduated from Melvindale High School in 1952. He and Mona Scott were united in marriage Dec. 22, 1956. He was retired from General Motors. He also worked for Detroit Edison and was a mail carrier.
Mr. Previch served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He truly enjoyed his retirement at his lake home at Houghton Lake. He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake, where he served as an usher. He enjoyed wildlife, feeding his wild birds and watching wildlife shows on TV. He especially loved having all of his grandchildren together each year at Houghton Lake for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Rose Previch; brother, Donald Previch; and daughter, Sharon Hudson.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 64 years, Mona Previch; son, James M. (Renee) Previch; grandchildren, Jamie Burke, David Dickerson, Jessica (Kris Kuster) Previch, Frank (Grace Sanford) Previch, Kristen (Charles) Dobbins and Trevor Hudson; and two great-grandchildren, Cade Dickerson and Aly Rose Dobbins.
