Mary I. VandenBos, 76, Falmouth, died Sept. 5, 2020, at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.
Her family is planning to gather at a later date to remember her with a Celebration of Life service. Young-Holdship Funeral Home, Lake City, handled arrangements.
She was born Dec. 13, 1943, in Lansing, the daughter of Ruben and Mary (Miller) Waldo. On Sept. 14, 1996, in Butterfield, she and Robert J. VandenBos were united in marriage.
She grew up on the family farm in Clinton County. A 1962 graduate of Merritt High School, she was the only girl student in her class. She was secretary of her class and earned the title of class valedictorian.
She was employed with Houghton Lake Community Schools at Prudenville Elementary as a food service cook and retired after 25 years. Her passion was her dogs, and she was involved in dog shows and judging shows for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister-in-law, PeeWee Michelson; and three brothers-in-law, Charles VandenBos, Steve Brimmer and Jerry Forbes.
Surviving are her husband, Robert VandenBos of Falmouth; son, Todd Powers; brother-in-law, Aaron (Jackie) VandenBos of Falmouth; three sisters-in-law, Annalee Forbes of Falmouth, Helen Brimmer and Lisa (Steve) Howey, both of Merritt; and niece, Amber (George) Davis of Falmouth.
