VAUGHAN, Matthew Nov 20, 1967 – Mar 22, 2021

INTERLOCHEN [mdash] On Monday, March 22, 2021, Matthew Patrick Vaughan, surrounded by his wife and sons, lost a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 53. He was a beloved husband, caring father, son, brother, and a man of extraordinary presence.
Matt was born on Nov. 20, 1967 in Troy, Ohio to Patrick and Ruth Vaughan. He was a master electrician, and worked in that field for over thirty years. Additionally he served for 15 years as a member of the Hastings City Police Reserves and volunteered at the Inland Township Fire Department.
On Aug. 5, 1989, Matt married the love of his life, Tammy Jo Chaffee. Together, they raised three sons, Eric Matthew, Ryan Thomas, and Zachary Joseph.
Matt was many things. He was funny, smart, charismatic, hard working and honorable. He enjoyed music, had a passion for photography, an appreciation for craft, and a great respect for the outdoors, but his true love was fishing with his sons, father, brother, and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; his three sons, Eric (Kala), Ryan (Tawney), and Zach; his grandchildren, Evan, Emma, Liam, and Lexa; his parents, Pat and Ruth; his siblings, David and Lori; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Matt did not wish to have a funeral service. He wished for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
