GRIMM, Gordon Jun 18, 1943 – Mar 28, 2021

TRAVERSE CITY [mdash] Gordon Grimm, 77, passed away March 28, 2021 in Traverse City after a short illness.
He was born in Detroit, June 18, 1943, the son of Clifford and Marion Grimm.
He graduated from Redford High School and while in school he played football and baseball.
Gordon went on to study radio electronics engineering technology at RETS Electronics Schools and graduated in 1964.
Upon graduation from RETS he enlisted in the United States Navy and served proudly and honorably for 23 years, leaving the service in 1987. Gordon obtained the rank of a Senior Chief Electronics Technician. During this time in the service, Gordon attended Mohegan Community College and received a degree in applied sciences.
Upon retirement from the Navy, Gordon found his niche in education in 1987, and was an employment specialist at Northwestern Michigan College retiring, again, in 1996.
Upon retirement, Gordon had many hobbies; building and flying model aircraft, fishing, boating, hunting, traveling, bike riding and enjoying the sights and sounds of northern Michigan.
Gordon was a member of "LIFT" a radio controlled sailplane club located in Traverse City.
Gordon enjoyed the company of his fellow pilot members during their activities at their flying field located in Maple City.
Left to mourn Gordon's passing is his son, Gordon F. (Michele) Grimm, of Bellaire, his brothers, David (Sheri) Grimm, of Rapid City and Robert (Cindy) Grimm, of Kalkaska; sisters, Carol (Robert) Shepherd, of Fairfield, Ohio; and Barbara (Martin) Mason, of Fremont, Ohio.
Gordon had many nieces and nephews in Michigan and Ohio who he cared for greatly.
Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife, Alison; and brother, Richard.
Gordon had a special friend and partner, Janine Andrew and together they called themselves "The Free Range Chickens" named after their constant quest to look for adventure. They spent many fun times together, biking, boating and exploring our region's beaches, rivers and woods that they enjoyed so much in all four seasons.
Janine enriched Gordon's life and made his final years a joy, filled with laughter and happy companionship. Gordon would tell you this today if he were here, "Relish this day it will never come again" and he did. A life well lived by as fine a man as there ever was.
A celebration of life will take place at 12 p.m. on April 17 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska with lunch to follow at the VFW hall.
