Leon was born in Traverse City, on Jan. 4, 1968 to biological parents, James and Janice (Watterson) Dalton, in care of adoptive parents, Floyd and Lucy (Taylor) Voice. Leon grew up in Kingsley, later in Karlin, where he joined the military in 1985 in Traverse City, where he was a part of the 182nd Transportation Company.
