John Paul Patti, 73, Houghton Lake, died May 16, 2023, at The Brook of Houghton Lake.
A funeral will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Born in Detroit Sept. 30, 1949, he was the son of Samuel and Loraine (LeDuc) Patti. He married Patricia Shea Dec. 11, 1970, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Detroit.
Mr. Patti was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army from June, 1969, to June, 1971. In 2002, he retired as an elevator mechanic with the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 36. He had previously lived in Detroit, Warren, Clinton Township and Cadillac before moving to Houghton Lake.
Mr. Patti enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events and was a lifelong Detroit sports fan.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Patti is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Sara) Patti of Roscommon; daughter, Nicole (Samy) Chaptini of Grosse Pointe; brother, Joseph (Sandy) Patti; sisters, Mary Ellen (David) Muehring and Jane (Rick) Harper; and six grandchildren, Ashley, Sean and Leonardo Patti and Jacob, Isabella and Gabriel Chaptini.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
