Mary Lynn Hickey, age 78 of Byron Center, went to be with her Lord Friday, March 31, 2023. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Lee Collins Hickey; parents Phillip Ruth and Bertha Clifton; sister, Reeta Purcell. She will be remembered by her daughters Chelly (Jeff) Martin, Missy Hickey, Char Hickey-Cain; grandchildren Brooke (Nick) Thrall, Marlee Cain, Taylor Martin, Chad Martin, Brayden Haisma, and Sawyer Haisma; great-grandchildren Aislee Thrall, Lawson Thrall, and Louelle Thrall; brothers Don (Carol) Vereeke, John (Sally) Ruth, Tom (Sally) Clifton; special friends Marcia Vanharmelen and Pat Dawes; and many other friends.
Mary was a great cook and accomplished seamstress. She loved spending her summers camping at the beach. For many years, she spent winters in Florida and Texas where she met many lifelong friends. She was the most loving wife, mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and friend to anyone she met.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. with a funeral service at 5 p.m. In honor of Mary and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
