Michael David Nowak, 80, Roscommon, died Jan. 7, 2023, in West Branch.
Arrangements were handled by Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon. Burial will be in Solon Township Cemetery, Cedar Springs.
He was born March 14, 1942, in Cedar Springs, the son of George and Lenore (Bruce) Nowak.
Mr. Nowak was a trooper for the Michigan State Police from 1967 to 1992. He was a deputy for the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office from 1992 until 1996 and will be remembered for helping to implement the 911 system for Roscommon County.
In 1997, he went to work for First Armor in West Branch until retiring in 2009. He was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, Grayling.
He enjoyed golfing and playing cards. For the last 30 years, he enjoyed owning and operating the family Christmas tree farm.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Leonard; and sister, Janice.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; children, Troy Nowak of Cleveland, OH, and Carla (David) Peters of Portland, OR; grandchild, Nixie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
